Florida Bible College of Tampa has two new board members.

Florida Bible College of Tampa has two new board members.

It is with great joy that we welcome two great men of God to our Board of Trustees. One of our founders, Brother Lee Patton, passed away last year after a long battle with cancer. My brother, Merle Arnold-better known as “Little Man”, had a stroke and is no longer able to serve on the board.

Mr. John Hembree and Dr. Wally Morillo were added to the Board of Directors of the College in January of this year.

Dr. Wally Morillo graduated from Florida Bible College in Miami back in 1966. He married the president’s daughter, Jane, and headed for Texas.

Wally’s story began when he was invited by a friend to attend a church camp in 1962. Wally accepted Christ as his personal savior and dedicated his life to serve the Lord. Wally graduated from Florida Bible College, left his job as an airline mechanic and January 23, 1967, he arrived in the Rio Grande valley, Texas to start the Christian Youth Ranch with two neighborhood kids, which quickly grew to over 100. The kids asked Wally to start a church where they could attend. In 1970, Grace Community Church was born.

I had the privilege of meeting Jane and Wally in 1964.  Last year they celebrated their 53rd year of marriage and ministry. Congratulations to a great and faithful servant of the Lord.

Wally’s comments about the college.

Dear Yankee, "Thank you for the opportunity of being a part of the Florida Bible College of Tampa graduation, it was a huge blessing. I was impressed with the caliber of the graduates; they were well trained, and it showed when they came to our camp and ministered. You are doing a great job and I am also very impressed with the workers that work with you. It was a great graduation."

Welcome aboard to John Hembree.

Never have I met a ‘fireball’ for the gospel like John. Over 20 years ago, John walked into the Northside Baptist Church of Athens, Georgia where I was the pastor. He heard the clarity of the gospel and was never the same. His drive was motivated by his love for the gospel and those who needed to hear it. He helped take our youth group to over 120. John is one of the greatest soul-winners I have ever met. Many of God’s people would rather teach than reach but look out world for those who desire to reach and teach. John influenced three young men to attend Florida Bible College here in Tampa, but then the next year, John came himself. He graduated and returned to help pastor the church he left. Even though John is young, (about 50), it is great to have a young vibrant firebrand on the board of the college.
