TEXT: For God is not the
author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the
saints. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
For if
the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the
battle? (1 Corinthians 14:8)
So
likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how
shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. (1 Corinthians 14:9)
How to Simplify the Complexity of Scripture
God is
not the god of confusion. If our messages are not true and clear;
our
people will be unstable, confused, and filled with doubts.
MAIN ISSUES THAT THE LOST MAN MUST UNDERSTAND TO BE
SAVED AND THE SAVED MAN MUST UNDERSTAND TO GROW.
SALVATION: GRACE vs WORKS (Results of what
you believe) Eph. 2:8-9
Illustration: Law and Grace: Coat, Mr. Law and Mr.
Love Rom. 11:6
POINTS OF CLARITY:
1. You cannot know you are going to
Heaven until you know you cannot go to Hell.
2. Salvation is not about building a
relationship with God but escaping the damnation of Hell. Which one of these demands urgent attention?
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Matthew
23:33)
3. You cannot know you are going to
Heaven until you know you cannot go to Hell.
4. Salvation is not about building a
relationship with God but escaping the damnation of Hell. Which one of these demands urgent attention?
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Matthew
23:33)
5.
Relationship vs
Fellowship
(Fellowship
mentioned 4 times in 3 verses)
(Relationship
is not mentioned one time in the entire Bible)
That which we have seen and heard
declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship
with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:3)
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in
darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: (1 John 1:6)
But if we walk in the light, as he is
in the light, we have fellowship one
with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all
sin. (1 John
1:7)
6. Eternal security is not a separate
doctrine in salvation-it is salvation-therefore it is the true and only proof of one’s belief in the Gospel. (John 3:16)
7. You are either saved forever or you
are not saved at all.
8. Salvation is a decision to trust
Christ, (in a moment of time) not a
commitment to serve (in the process
of time).
9.
The Lord Jesus Christ loved you so much he would rather die than live
without you. His death for your sins was to give you a choice. Christ or
nothing. Without Christ, there is no
choice.
10. Free will of man vs the sovereignty
of God (God in his sovereignty chose to give man a free will). Free will must include choice.
11. If perfection is required for Heaven,
then the Gospel we preach must make a
man totally and irrevocably perfect at the very moment he believes.
SERVICE: FLESH vs SPIRIT (Results of what
you do)
Marvel not
that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
(John 3:7)
Being born
again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which
liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter
1:23)
But the
word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is
preached unto you. (1 Peter 1:25)
Illustration of the Two Natures:
Salvation is not the conversion of the old man, but the birth of the new man. Prasso
vs Poieo explains I John 3:9, II Cor.
5:17
REWARDS vs CHASTENING:
Illustration: obedience (blessings and rewards-Matt. 10:42, I Cor. 3:8) vs disobedience (chastening and loss of
rewards- Heb. 12:6-7)
POINTS OF
CLARITY:
1. Only a saved
man can commit, surrender, or promise to serve Christ.
2. Neither Arminianism (you can lose
salvation) or Calvinism (perseverance in the faith is automatic and is the
proof you have salvation) can produce security of salvation.
3. The “seven contents” of the gospel message
is for clarity.
