In the Old Testament, the LORD gave Israel 7 Feast
Days that were memorials to remind the people of coming events dealing with the
Messiah. There are no commands for his children today to celebrate any of these
feast days except when we partake of the Lord’s Supper as we look back to the
events surrounding the Passover. I don’t believe the Lord is offended when we
voluntarily choose to celebrate His birth and Resurrection.
The Son
The Messiah to be a light to the Gentiles
Isaiah 42:6 (KJV)
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness,
and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of
the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
Isaiah 11:10 (KJV)
10 And in that day there shall be a root of
Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles
seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
Isaiah 49:5-6 (KJV)
5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from
the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not
gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be
my strength.
6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou
shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the
preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that
thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
Time of Messiah’s Coming
Daniel 9:25-26
(KJV)
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the
going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the
Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the
street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that
shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall
be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Messiah was to come and be cut off before the destruction of the 2nd
Temple, which was destroyed by the Roman Titus, in 70 A.D.
The Messiah Not To Remain In the
Grave
Psalm 16:9-10 (KJV)
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;
neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Zechariah 12:9-10 (KJV)
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I
will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and
upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications:
and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for
him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as
one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
John
3:16 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
In John 3:16,
the Lord promised two things that were sure to happen if we believe that he
died to pay for our sins. ONE was that I would not perish (go to Hell), and TWO was that I would have Eternal Life the moment I believe that God gave his Son
for me. Isn’t God good? Yes, and he’s good all the time.
Sincerely yours,
Yankee and Betty
